Most of us take pride in the way we look, but life has a tendency to inflict its fair share of punishment on our skin – from physical trauma like acne, burns, surgical scars or post-natal stretch marks, to the relentless march of age that erodes elasticity and creates unwanted lines where once there were none.
The effect of that goes beyond the physical evidence we see in the mirror each day. It can also impact on our body confidence and the perception of how we appear to others.
Medical micro-needling is one of the ways he have to rebalance life’s sometimes heavy touch on us without exposing ourselves to the risks we often associate with highly invasive cosmetic surgical practices – and it has positive health benefits as well, in stimulating the natural biological processes that help to rejuvenate our skin.
Also known as Collagen Induction Therapy – which is completely different to injections of synthetic collagen, medical microneedling is a breakthrough treatment that targets wrinkles, scar tissue and other blemishes by stimulating the body to repair and produce natural collagen and proteins that thicken and soften the skin and improve elasticity.
Offered either as a standalone treatment or as part of a cosmetic acupuncture programme, it’s safe, effective and can help improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, pigmentation issues, ageing skin and pore health.
We use tiny needles to create micro punctures in the skin. This process is a biological trigger for the body to kickstart your natural wound-healing processes, which generate collagen and elastin, creating new, plumper and younger-looking skin – naturally improving the appearance of imperfections. More than that, the process improves blood circulation through new and healthy tissue and allows easier absorption of your normal daily moisturising creams that help keep the skin in good condition for longer.
Your skin may look pink to moderately red immediately after your treatment, but this normalises within a few hours and certainly in less than 24 hours.
Typically we’d recommend 3 to 6 treatments, depending on the extent of the issue we’re trying to address. These usually take place at monthly intervals. More acute problems, such as scarring, can take 6 or more treatments to fully achieve the results you want.
You’re likely to see plumper looking skin almost immediately, but the natural healing process takes time and so whilst some changes are apparent much sooner, it may be six weeks before you see significant results
Our medical microneedling costs £95 per session.
